This Thursday the latest commission by east London-based sculptor Conrad Shawcross will be unveiled at Camden’s iconic Roundhouse. Taking its inspiration from the 24 columns in the main space, ‘Timepiece’ will transform the building into an immersive clock installation. Shawcross is known for his complicated sculptures that have the appearance of machines. He talked to us at his studio about this awe-inspiring piece that will turn everyone into their own gnomon – that’s the spike of a sundial to you and me. Watch and learn above.
‘Timepiece‘ is at the Roundhouse from August 1-25. Entry is on a pay-what-you-like basis.
