Camden Tank Party

August is here and for all those of you not jetting off on holiday, there’s tonnes happening in the capital. Here are a few choice things our mates over at LondOnTheInside are looking forward to this month..

Midsummer Night Screen, Stoke Newington West Reservoir, August 8 & 29
‘We love an outdoor cinema experience, especially in the summer when it’s set in a cool location. The latest showings to catch our eye are the Midsummer Night Screens which are taking place in 1930s red brick tower, sitting on the edge of Stoke Newington Reservoir – pretty sweet, no? Tickets cost under a tenner, take a picnic for the park beforehand and you got yourself a cheap date. You can thank us later!’

Norse by Norsewest, French and Grace, August 9-11
‘One of our favourite pop-up dining concepts is heading down sarf this month for a special three-day residency in Brixton. The Disappearing Dining Club will serve up lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch with everything from potted reindeer (close your ears Santa!), gravalax roulade and lemon & salt liquorice Eton mess. You can order dishes separately, but if it’s anything like their other venues we’d suggest getting stuck into the five course tasting menu with cocktail and aquavit for just £30.’

Smokehouse, Islington, August 19
‘The brains behind the Princess of Shoreditch, The Lady Ottoline and The Pig and Butcher are all about to open a new joint with the help of chef Neil Rankin and it sounds bloody good! Smokehouse in Islington later this month with an emphasis on BBQ food smoked on site, craft beer, local ales and European wines all in the setting of a lovely old pub. What’s more they have a garden! A new home for the summer.’

The Tank Party, Camden Brewery,  August 24
‘When we heard there are going to be six 12,000 litre tanks all filled with beer at Camden Town Brewery for ‘Tank Party‘ we made arrangements to account for all the things that might happen to us on the day. That’s a LOT of beer. A tap will be fitted to these zero degree chilled tankers where unfiltered Hells Lager will flow through and fill hundreds of awaiting glasses held by beer lovers far and wide. Together we will unite and form The Tank Party. Long live beer… but maybe not us.’

Crocodiles, Sebright Arms, August 29
One of our favourite bands in the whole wide world, all the way from San Diego, release a new album this month and are hitting London town, meaning this is the first chance we’ll get to hear the new material live. Crocodiles’ scuzzy, post punk angst will no doubt manage to turn Sebright Arms into a sweatbox. If you’ve not experienced their live show it’s a definite must do from us. See you down the front.’
