Ah the life of a fashion stylist. Filching samples from magazine shoots, merrily spending with generous discounts, and hoovering up goodie bags at catwalk shows. It’s easy to see how fashion industry insiders fill their wardrobes, flatmates’ wardrobes, houses and cars with clothes. The Stylist’s Rail is a monthly sale run by just these sartorially overladen individuals, and gives those with wardrobe space to spare the chance to buy designer labels and cool vintage pieces at bargainous prices.
Today they move from their regular spot at Dalston night-haunt Birthdays to the pop-up Pit Festival by London Fields for a one day style sale (11.30-6pm). Don’t be surprised to see fashion editors rummaging through the stock pile; the glossies are a fixture at the event, which is no surprise considering that items from the likes of YSL, Louboutin, Luella Bartley and Thierry Mugler often pop up. Stall holders also include up-and-coming designers, ASOS marketplace traders, vintage magpies, and plain ol’ fashion folk who want happy homes for their precious pieces so there will be plenty to choose from. With an on-site café and bar, you can sustain your shopping and kick back with a cocktail after (or before, if you’re down to let a little loose on the apparel racks). Jean Grant
