Hairdressers are notoriously good gossips, so they get to know what’s going down in all the coolest places in town, right? Corrado Tevere, head honcho of Radio Hair Salon on Redchurch Street, certainly has his finger on the East End pulse. He’s known the ins and outs of the area since 1996, and loves its dynamic atmosphere and creative minds so much that he opened Radio there back in 2010. Read on to discover his favourite east London spots.
The Golden Heart
This place is representative of east London throughout time. The landlady Sandra is so charismatic. She’s a true east Londoner and the best landlady in the city.
A hub of creative concepts encompassing books, music, fashion and prints. The look is conceptual and is a reflection of its forward take on all things creative.
Simply put, this place does great food and wine. It has the same feel as the salon; earthy and simple. It’s how I would see us doing food if Radio had a restaurant.
This is the best shop for menswear in London. It successfully gives you insight into a whole lifestyle. Plus I love their coffee.
The best pizza in London, and that’s saying a lot since I’m Italian. The entrance is not actually through the front of the shop, so for those who don’t know it looks detached yet still beautiful, and really does tell a story.
Franze & Evans
Not because they’re our neighbours, but for Teresa and the amazing food. Her and the rest of the team are like extended family. The sheer numbers of people at lunchtime are a testament to the great menu.
