Do you always top your Christmas wish list with a flux capacitor? Or have an unusual fondness for historical fancy dress? Step back in time the easy way with the AM:PM:AD Timelapse installation at the Barbican. The project, a part of Hack the Barbican, is bringing the past and future to life through sound.

The 24-hour clock maps the current time to its equivalent historical date, so listening at 19:40 will mean you’re transported to the blasts and terror of the Blitz, and 13:48 will get an aural whiff of the Black Death. Such a shame that the most noisy occasions were also the most horrific, but at least they’ll make an impression. If you can’t make it to the Barbican this week, experience the installation online at www.barbicantimelapse.co.uk.

AM:PM:AD Timelapse is in the Barbican foyer until Friday August 16. Hack the Barbican runs until August 31
