While it may never rival the glorious and bargainous spread of curry outlets of Tooting Broadway, Streatham is south London’s premier food destination this weekend as it fills with food fairs and supperclubs for the fourth annual Streatham Food Festival. There are heaps of tempting events taking place between now and Monday, but the one that’s really got our stomachs rumbling is Saturday night’s Waste Food Pop-up Restaurant at The White Lion. For just £15 you can tuck into a three-course vegetarian feast created from food which would otherwise have gone to waste. Profits from the dinner will go to Brixton People’s Kitchen and Music4Children, so your meal is essentially virtue squared. Make sure to book tickets though; seats at the fount of good karma are limited.

The Waste Food Pop-up Restaurant is at The White Lion on Saturday August 17. For more Streatham Food Festival events visit their website
