Leicester Square becomes a shrine to One Direction

Fake one direction, Leicester Square
They’re not THE One Direction, but don’t you think this lookalike band ‘Overload’ are a good stand in? No, us neither, though the swarms of 1D fans in Leicester Square were pretty keen to get their photos with them anyway. The West End red carpet zone has been packed with fans of the boyband all day today, who are hoping to catch a glimpse of their favourite popstars tonight at the premier of Morgan Spurlock’s One Direction documentary ‘This Is Us’. So many Directioners have assembled, in fact, that TfL have put up posters to send the rest elsewhere…

But the ones that have made it are in high spirits. These teenagers came all the way from Madrid just to stand here and get a glimpse of the band. They’re going home again tomorrow. They even made a pretty special banner…

Spanish One Direction fans, This is Us, Leicester Square
A One Direction fans’ parents’ lounge was available upon following this (slightly dodgy looking) sign, and John Sergeant was clearly as intrigued by it all as we were. Or perhaps he’s a massive Niall fan? We may never know.

This Is Us premieres in Leicester Square tonight, but is released in cinemas Londonwide on August 29.
