Why don’t you leaf the office early today and take the long root home to see London’s largest living wall? The huge new green strip unveiled by Victoria BID on the side of the Rubens Hotel in Victoria was planted to reduce the risk of flooding in the area. The wall’s creators hope that it will restore a natural biodiversity to a usually smoggy urban environment.

Wild strawberries will grow on the wall, one of a diverse range of plants including buttercups, crocuses and green ferns which will be watered by rain collected on the roof of the building. The permanent installation will hold 10,000 litres of water. But although you may be frond of the new wall, weed advise you not to stay too long or the hotel staff will think you’re stalk-ing them (sorry!).
