A Field of Cloth
Have you ever woven anything more complicated than a friendship bracelet? Us neither, but we hear it’s HARD. The London Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers have some serious threading skills, though, and are just the people to educate us in the traditions and styles that have inspired handspun and handwoven textiles for centuries. Their free summer exhibition opens today at St Martin-in-the-Fields and runs until September 15, and they’re dyeing [sic] to show you the fabric of their hobby, through cloth varieties, dye techniques and exotic designs. There’ll be a few items on sale, too, should you be the sort of person who gets all their Christmas shopping done before the first of December.

A Field of Cloths: Handspun & Handwoven Textiles inspired by Africa, China and India is at St Martin-in-the-Fields until Sep 15. Entrance is free
