We always knew London’s skyline was sizzling, but the ‘death ray’ allegedly emanating from the new ‘Walkie Talkie’ skyscraper has turned things a bit scary. Reflected sunlight from the curved building has been blamed for melting parts of a Jaguar car innocently parked below. The tower’s construction company have offered to pay the car’s owner for damage caused and are considering altering the design to prevent further meltdowns. Three affected parking spaces have been suspended, but we’ve got a few ideas about what they could put in their place:

1. Pop-up café
Trendy eco-friendly all day breakfasts: 100% solar powered, 100% delicious.

2. Tattoo removal clinic
Get your ex’s name erased from your bum and a custom design ‘Talkie Tatt’ in its place.

3. Beauty salon
No longer is it impossible to get a tan in London – just pack the factor 50 if you don’t fancy the tomato look.

Find out what happened when we visited the alien death ray otherwise known as 20 Fenchurch Street.
