The Clash Pop up

If you’re drudging back to school, university or work after the summer months this week, you’ll need something to cheer you up. Here are LondOntheInside‘s top five happenings this September to get excited about…

Hoxley and Porter Islington, opened September 1
‘There’s another new addition to the Islington drinking scene and it sounds a little bit weird and wonderful. Themed around a train journey from Cape Town to Cairo, the insides are styled around a train carriage with a train conductor on hand to seat guests and serve up cocktails such as ‘Whatever Doesn’t Kill You’ garnished with an absinthe-coated scorpion that changes colour. Yep, definitely weird – we’ll keep you posted on wonderful…’

The Clash Pop Up Shop Soho, Sept7 – 22
‘London’s Calling…well it is for all fans of The Clash, who are without doubt a cult staple of music history. That’s why we’re hot-footing it down to the ‘Black Market Clash’ exhibition on Berwick Street. With instruments, manuscripts and other rare memorabilia we can’t wait to be transported back to such a vital part of music culture in London. Should you stay? No, you should definitely go!’

PINS The Social, Sept 10
‘Manchester band PINS are a girl gang with echoing monotones that induce chills like a PJ Harvey mantra. We expect to see big things from these guys in 2014 and that’s why this show is firmly etched into our diary.’

Cutty Cargo Brick Lane,  Sept 12
‘Food by Meat Liquor, cocktails from 69 Colebrooke Row and entertainment from a whole host of peeps all brought together in a wooden crate on Brick Lane – yep, Cutty Sark whisky are doing it and what’s more, it’s free. That’s right, the whole evening is FREE. We never need an excuse to turn down free food and booze, especially when it comes from two of London’s best players. Get involved.’

King of The Wing The Jam Tree, Sept 19
‘Fancy scoring yourself a £500 bar tab? Course you do. Well head down to the wing eating competition at The Jam Tree this month, eat the most wings in eight minutes and it’s yours. You might want to start training now, mind, last year’s winner put away 1.2 kg of meat… Go hungry or go home!’
