All aboard the artmobile, launched this morning at Dulwich Picture Gallery by Formula 1 legend Stirling Moss. The multicoloured van, as the newest addition to the gallery’s education outreach program, is packed with paint, pencils and paper amongst other tools to inspire people to get wheely creative. It will be making its way around London to bring arty fun to over 100 of the community centres, care homes and hospitals that the gallery currently works with, as well as young people who aren’t in easy reach of the gallery’s usual free art education programme. The colourful outer shell of the van is an original design by Humphrey Ocean, a contemporary British painter and member of the Royal Academy whose signature is on the bottom of iconic portraits of Paul McCartney and Philip Larkin. Watch out for the artmobile rolling up at a workshop near you soon!
The artmobile is based at Dulwich Picture Gallery, Gallery Rd, SE21 7AD. West Dulwich rail.
