All the nosey people in the city (us included) are already excited for Open House London, which starts later this month. Luckily for us, the nationwide Heritage Open days, taking place September 12-15, provide a chance to see inside some of the interesting places in London’s outer boroughs. Dorich House museum in Kingston is holding special tours, whilst Lopping Hall (pictured), given to the people of Loughton in exchange for their lopping rights, and the posh townhouse Ebbisham House in Epsom are both open to the curious. Former RAF base Biggin Hill will be opening the doors to its on-site chapel for an exhibition on its history. The airfield played a particularly important role in the Battle of Britain and the exhibition includes full sized replicas of Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft. On Sunday 15 in Watford, discover the model of the Mohne Dam, a key element in the closely guarded Dambusters operation of the Second World War.
