Help NANA find a new home

Nana cafe, clapton

There’s one thing that could make your favourite café more welcoming, and we bet you’d never even realised it was missing. Extra grandmas. When you think about it, there’s surely nobody you’d rather serve you bottomless cups of tea and homemade cake (or dippy eggs, if you’re really in need of looking after) than a lovely granny. Clapton’s NANA is a comfort food café hosted by older ladies who fancied doing something productive with their daytimes. We visited it back when they were serving from a local pub, but their hunt for a permanent home has finally paid off. Almost.

They’ve found a new space (an old public toilet, in fact) in Clapton, but it needs a lot of work before it will be the cosy retreat they’re dreaming of, so they’re trying to raise funds for the makeover through Kickstarter. Donate to the ridiculously lovely cause and you’ll receive anything from a handwritten thank you card to a bespoke, nan-knitted bobble hat. All with lashings of warm, fuzzy feelings on the side.
