Zombie Blitz 1940

takeover2Reader Lizzie Hill, graduate, 23 from Kew Gardens braved Zombie Blitz 1940 at the Vaults in Waterloo and survived to tell the tale (and recommend the terrifying experience!):

It’s not quite Halloween yet, but the zombies are coming to get those brave enough to venture into the labyrinth of tunnels beneath Waterloo Station.

As a fan of zombie films, I adorned my finest ration-chic clothes, put on a brave face and headed into the war-time tunnels with my wits about me. Immediately the sound of sirens warned of an impending air raid, which sent everyone in our group dashing underground for cover. Once inside, we were trapped and had to work our way through a terrifying maze of blocked-in rooms, Nazis, bombs and, of course, the evil undead.

With the help of one rather panicky American soldier we ran, shot and uncovered the route to the other end, where we emerged one hour later into the daylight and were greeted by some very confused passers-by.

This is not for the faint-hearted, but is immensely fun for all you thrill-seekers and horror fans. It’s not cheap at £65 per person, but definitely worth it if you dress up and make the most of that hour of terror. Lizzie Hill
