No, it’s not a wind-up (sorry), the Queen really does need someone to maintain over 1,000 clocks spread across her royal residences. The job was advertised this week on the state’s official website, calling out for a nifty clock keeper to work in Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and look after ‘many items of great historical importance and rarity, whilst also repairing a range of horological items and Turret clocks.’ The successful candidate will be on £31k a year and one imagines will be especially busy when the clocks change in March and October. For any budding horological conservators out there, the closing date is October 13. Ally Swadling
