Ah, we city folk do love a taste of the country. The unfussy food, the barn dance music, the bleeting, clucking farmyard animals. Pity it’s such a schlepp to get out there. But the folks at West London gastropub Paradise by Way of Kensal Green have a solution: they’re hosting their very own ‘harvest festival’. The two-day event kicks off on Saturday September 28 with a street food market in the neighbouring church courtyard, plus country-themed classes on how to grow your own organic veg, or how to make your own sausages. On the Sunday, the pub’s garden will be turned into a mini petting zoo, complete with pigs, chickens and sheep. With folk music on both days, not forgetting plenty of ale, there’s no excuse not to take a roll in the hay. Tania Ballantine
