Dalston’s cool has been suffering a bit lately. Harry Styles really kicked the trendy spot towards the grave when he chose to party there for his birthday at the start of the year, around the same time everyone moved on to talking about Peckham. Nevertheless, Dalston is still a hotbed of creativity, proven again by the unique multimedia festival, Night Contact. On September 27, for one night only, there will be a three-screen projection in Gillett Square, which will be showing experimental films and photography from over 50 innovative artists. From 6pm there will be a cocktail bar, street food and music until sunset when the projections will kick off. If you wander outside the square, the festival will be alive in different venues across the area including Bird Café, Servant’s Jazz Quarters, Dalston Boys Club (where documentaries and short films will be shown) and the Vortex Jazz Club, where the after party will be going strong until 2am.
