Feeling hungry? You’ll need the appetite of an elephant if you’re going to make the most of the 2013 London Restaurant Festival. Now in its fifth year, this gastronomic extravaganza brings together over 400 restaurants in celebration of the capital’s amazing, and amazingly varied, dining scene from October 3-21. Participating eateries, from Michelin-starred establishments to neighbourhood noodle bars, have created a series of special ‘festival menus’ at various price points, from under £10 a head to over £40. Alternatively, there are cuisine-themed tours across the capital – including a Japanese Journey, Tapas Tour and Cicchetti Trail – taking in a half-dozen restaurants in one day. Tickets sell out fast for some events: always popular is the restaurant-hopping Gourmet Odyssey, where you eat a starter, main and dessert in three separate places, travelling via old-fashioned Routemaster between venues.
