Elephant and Castle has a bit of bad rep, but Elefest has been working hard to change that whilst giving us some great weekends out in the process. Celebrating cultural and creative diversity of a well known yet misunderstood area, the three-day Elefest festival is now in its 11th year. For 2013, on October 4, 5 and 6 you can enjoy tours of Elephant and Castle Subway murals, local history talks and a ton of other events and activities on offer that honour both homegrown and international talent. In the Hotel Elephant Warehouse there will be a pop-up screening of Noise of Art collective’s film/dance/electronica remix of the Brit horror classic ‘The Wicker Man’, an anniversary screening of ’70s reggae crime film ‘The Harder They Come’ and acclaimed British thriller ‘London to Brighton’ will also be shown, followed by a Q&A from Elephant and Castle born and bred film star Johnny Harris. Elefest will also host the UK Skateboarding film festival, with pop-up skateboarding and live shows that will be headlined by beatbox champ Reeps One. Plus, there’ll also be a massive closing party at Corsica Studio on Sunday night.
