What with all the grinning bobbies and waving monarchs, the London you see on postcards probably isn’t the one you’d call ‘home’. With this in mind, Landscape Institution London have created the Doodle Street View Project to give you the chance to draw an alternative London from the waterways of Hackney.
On October 6 from 10.30am-5pm, the institute hopes to pull together at least 60 amateur artists and art enthusiasts to join them on a one-day boat trip through east London. There will be a series of drawing exercises throughout the day both on and off the boat for you to capture an alternative view of the city we’re so used to seeing. The aim is to pull together a collection of perspectives and present a collaborative 360-degree image of different points of interest and historical significance around Hackney, which will then be exhibited in east London (venue TBC). For £15 (£12.50 for LI members) you’ll get a pub lunch and pints to keep your creative juices flowing, and there’ll also be a pop-up bar on board.
