Even though some of the world’s geniuses were alcoholics, it’s usually the case that once the ginoculars are on, all intellect goes straight out the window. However, gin-makers Hendrick’s are reviving the days of highbrow boozing for London Cocktail Week with their Carnival of Knowledge.

From noon-10pm on October 11, 12 and 13, enjoy a delicious tipple and some thought-provoking talks, experiences and experiments in the decadent surroundings of 33 Fitzroy Square. Over the weekend you’ll have the chance to learn about the chemistry of cocktails with former president of British Society of Flavourists Steve Pearce, uncover the deathly history of London as part of Antique Beat’s A London Day of the Dead, explore the history of London’s 18th century coffee houses and gin palaces and be inspired by a futuristic Sunday lunch made by Rebel Dining Society.

There are heaps of both free and ticketed events to enjoy, with the Hendrick’s Parlour Bar being the ideal pit stop to nourish both your mind and your tastebuds over the three days. Ally Swadling
