Traditionally, a first date is a high-pressured, clammy affair that – unless you’re George Michael – doesn’t usually involve a public toilet. But this is the 21st century – we split the bill on dates and the presence of lavatories is totally acceptable now. Unique dating site Doing Something (which matches users up based on the sort of quirky dates they like going on) has teamed up with London Loo Tours (not a bog-standard tour company), to create an offbeat date night that promises toilet humour, boozing, confessions and maybe a bit of canoodling.

On October 11 at 6.30pm, you can experience an altogether different blind date experience as you’ll be taken on a pub crawl around Westminster with stops at toilets of historical interest, as well as plenty of bars including Cellar Door, which was once a Gentleman’s toilet where Oscar Wilde reputedly liked to loiter. Along with all the loo puns and drinking (you also get a cocktail with your £18 ticket) to take away the awkwardness, daters are encouraged to share their dating stories to ‘flush away memories of bad dates’. Ally Swadling
