Ah, the great British car boot sale – essentially a big jumble sale littered with hatchbacks where sellers desperately try to flog all their unwanted junk and punters have to arrive eye-wateringly early to bag anything good. However, on October 12, you can do a bit of booting with a nostalgic twist at a civilised hour. From 10am-6pm along the Southbank Centre’s riverfront, 70 classic cars and vintage vehicles will be trading vintage clothes, homeware and collectibles for London’s first ever classic car boot sale, curated by fashion designers Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway and the Vintage Festival team. For £3 you can cruise between Queen’s Walk, Hungerford Bridge and Jubilee Gardens and drool over classic Aston Martins, VW campervans and vintage bicycles whilst picking up some unique vintage memorabilia right out of their boots. There will also be a classic London Routemaster bus hosting DJs and quirky instruments for you to try out in between sets. If you need to refuel, classic street food will be on offer, including Engine’s artisan smoked sausages, B.O.B’s Lobster and Beetle Juice’s mobile cocktail bar will be serving drinks all day.
