Sherry. Does it conjure images of maiden aunts and warm syrupy concoctions at Christmas? Then you’re missing out on the marvellous variety of Andalusia’s fortified wine, from light, ultra-dry fino to aged, honey-like pedro ximénez (aka PX). That’s where the Sherry Trail comes in. Part of the inaugural two-week Sherry Festival, the trail features an array of fabulous sherry and tapas specialists around London.
Pick up a loyalty card at the first bar you visit, get it stamped at every subsequent bar and then, when it’s full, you can enter a prize draw. Participants include Barrica, Capote y Toros, Copita, Fino, José and Pizarro.

Also, check into the festival’s Facebook page for daily competitions, including the chance to win a trip to Jerez (‘sherry’ is an anglicisation of the name), capital of Andalusia and the centre of the sherry trade.

The festival is on from now until Oct 27. Find out more at www.sherryfestival.co.uk
