If you want to experience the beautiful and elusive northern lights, then you’ll need to pull on a few jumpers, pop over to Norway or maybe Canada and keep your fingers crossed. But don’t get down about it, because the aurora borealis was so 2012 – in autumn 2013, it’s all about the eastern lights.
The Queen of Hoxton launches this year’s WigWamBam today, which will be taking residence on the roof until March 2014, and the eastern lights – a set of visuals inspired by the magic of the northern lights – will be projected on the inside and outside of the huge wigwam they’ve constructed on the roof of the east London bar. Inside the tent you can relax in the cosy den of deer hide-covered seating and candlelit lanterns. There will also be an open grill cooking a daily changing menu of warming food such as wild boar burgers and whole legs of lamb, while the bar will be serving up hot gin punch and hot buttered rum. There will be different events and workshops running throughout the season including spoon carving, pinhole photography, speed listening, pumpkin carving and origami. Beat that, Arctic Circle.
