Back in the dark (if infinitely more productive) days when YouTube didn’t exist, people would entertain themselves by making embarrassing home videos of their families, filmed with a camcorder the size of a double-decker bus. If you’ve got some of these old relics knocking about or your gran’s harbouring some reels, why not bring them along to Home Movie Day on October 19, where a friendly bunch of volunteers will inspect them, project them and give you tips about the best way to preserve your old reels, all for free.
The event takes places at The Cinema Museum in Elephant & Castle, where, as well as screening your old films, you can stand up and tell everyone a bit about them. Nothing in the attic? No problem – simply drop by and soak up a little unseen video history.
