We are the information generation. Yes, that’s you reading this on your smart phone. But at what cost is all this tweeting and liking at? As part of Bug and the charity House of St Barnabas’ series of talks, ’37 Things You Need to Know About Modern Britain’, their third event ‘Twitter is a girl’s best friend’, will consider the highs, lows and the future of social media. Award-winning journalist Suzanne Moore (who received death threats via Twitter a few months ago), psychotherapist Philippa Perry and fashion blogger Poppy Dinsey will be speaking at the event on October 21 at 6.30pm, which will chaired by Observer columnist Miranda Sawyer. Head down to the beautiful chapel of The House of St Barnabas and listen to the panel discussion which was inspired by recent social media controversies like WikiLeaks, Antony Weiner’s sexting and the increasing misogynistic threats against women online.
