It’s time to stock up on your laddu and barfi, as the Festival of Lights is upon us. Get involved this Sunday with the official Mayor of London’s free Diwali festival celebrations which are taking place on Sunday October 27 from 2-7pm featuring food stalls, dancing and music including sitar player and composer Anoushka Shankar performing tracks from her upcoming album, ‘Traces of You,’ which features her half sister, Norah Jones.

Dishoom Diwali

Or if you’re more interested in the food side of things, pop up the road to Dishoom in Covent Garden (or the Shoreditch branch if you’re east) where they’ll be celebrating with storytelling, face-painting, rangoli street art and mouthwatering  feasting menus including Chilli Garlic Crab (above) and the Phaldari Kofta Ruby. *drools*

For those down south, there will also be a day of music and family activities at the National Maritime Museum, where you can take part in an outdoor lantern parade, dance to the sounds of the Bollywood Brass Band, find out how sea trades brought people, ideas and culture from Asia to the UK, and plenty more. Happy Diwali y’all!
