Whether Rick Stein is one of your food heroes, or you simply hold him dear for that classic TV moment when he sliced off the end of his finger on a mandolin, now’s your chance to meet the man in person.
On Thursday November 14, smart brasserie Harrison’s (which is co-owned by Stein and Sam Harrison, also of Sam’s Brasserie in Chiswick), will be hosting a lunch of Rick’s dishes, taken from his recent travels in India. Final dishes (there’ll be a choice of three per course) are still to be decided, but expect the likes of curried squid with chickpea fritters or lamb koftas with cinnamon and chilli yoghurt, with coconut and cardamom rice pudding to finish.
After greeting tables, Rick will grab the mic and give a talk from the central bar, with stories from his memoirs (no doubt including aforementioned mandolin incident). After lunch, you’ll be able to meet Rick, buy copies of his new book, ‘India, in Search of the Perfect Curry’ and have him sign it with a dedication. If that’s not a great Christmas present for mum (or a swoony aunt), then we don’t know what is. Tania Ballantine
To buy tickets (£30 per person for three courses and a welcome cocktail) or for more information, contact Harrison’s on 020 8675 6900.
