Nothing compares to the meaty glory of a roaring BBQ… or the gloating glory of bowling a strike… or the unadulterated rockin’ glory of raising a beer to the screaming guitars and thundering bass drum of pure heavy metal. Lucky for you, the two pioneering ‘taste experience’ lads Bompas & Parr along with the team that brought you the pin destruction of Heavy Metal Bowling have created a musical meaty Valhalla for foodies, metalheads and bowlers alike.
On November 20 from 7-11pm, upstairs at Rowans Ten Pin Bowl in Finsbury Park, B&P will be cooking with the drumsticks (sourced from fans on eBay) of Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain, System of a Down’s John Dolmayan and the late Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan of Avenged Sevenfold to create a feast of legends including Beef Short Ribs, Black Sword Kebab and Vegan Skewer of Death. The bad-ass banquet will be served up with a Condiment Castle, including a gnarly Tobacco infused Black Absinthe Sauce (there’s also ketchup and mayo if you’re not quite that metal). Yep, turns out metal and awesome food (and hair) are made for each other.
Alongside handling balls and slamming pins, there’ll also be dancers performing the sensually named routine ‘Ten Pin Berserker: balls blessed in blood’ (no idea), a skull cup trophy for the best hair whipper and the highest scoring bowler will win the same type of sword used by Arnie Schwarzenegger in ‘Conan the Barbarian’.
Needless to say the evening will be soundtracked by the godly likes of Black Sabbath, Electric Wizard, Elder, The Sword, Slayer, Sleep and Metallica. So, in the words of Steel Panther: “Death to all but metaaaaaal!” Ally Swadling
