Listen up bookworms and lovers of free stuff – east London’s unique free reading festival Writeidea is back for the fifth year running. The event will be taking over Whitechapel’s Idea Store from November 15-17, and includes free talks, signings and readings from top writers, plus – for the very first time – a Writeidea Fringe Festival, celebrating non-traditional forms of writing (no, that doesn’t mean ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’).
Highlights include Grace Petrie performing her infamous (and Billy Bragg-approved) anti-establishment anthem ‘Farewell to Welfare’, stand-up from subculture nerd Wil Hodgson and various panel discussions with the likes of Marvel Comics writer Kieron Gillen, Liberal Conspiracy founder Sunny Hundal, author Tim Gee, and graphic novelist Hannah Berry.
