No longer the fresh-faced macaques of northern indie-pop, Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys have matured into mighty silverback gorillas of rock. The stomping riffs and Spinal Tap-levels of sexual suggestiveness on latest album ‘AM’ (their fifth number one album) have helped them hit the very big time with this pair of colossal outdoor shows in Finsbury Park. They’ll be playing to a whopping 100,000 people across the two nights. It’s early to call it, but with Aussie psych-rockers Tame Impala and mod-ish troubadour Miles Kane in support, these could be the best gigs of the London summer.
Finsbury Park. £55. Fri May 23 and Sat May 24 2014. Tickets go on sale at 10am on November 22. Read our review of ‘AM’ now and book tickets.
