Sick of mum’s sprouts? Here are three restaurants open on Christmas Day

Finding a decent restaurant open on December 25 is a bit like trying to see a polar bear in a snowstorm. Most people (even non-Christians) like having the day off, not least because they want to find out who’s going to die on ‘EastEnders’ or ‘Downton Abbey’.

So we were pretty damn surprised to hear that the Wolseley – a glitzy, gorgeous grand café that requires an army of staff to make it run – would, for the first time ever, be opening its doors on Christmas Day, just before it closes for a three-week kitchen refurb from January 5-27. There’s no special ‘all the trimmings’ menu: instead, it’ll be running its standard à la carte menu from 11.30am until 4.30pm, for late brunches and festive long lunches. Unfortunately, all the spots at the Wolseley have been snapped up, but don’t fear, here’s a round-up of a few other decent places where you can dine out on December 25.
