Have you ever woken up and thought to yourself ‘Jeez I really love Kilburn. I love it so much that it would be just great if there was a university where I could study all there is to know about Kilburn’? We have. And so too, have the people behind Learning From Kilburn – a free university dedicated to spreading the word on all things Kilburn.

The project, run by Spacemakers in collaboration with OK-RM and Pernilla Ohrstedt Studio, has commissioned artists, writers, thinkers and architects to educate students on important issues, including ‘What does Kilburn wear?’, ‘Where does Kilburn start?’ and ‘Does Kilburn even exist?’ Directing the project is Tom Keeley, who presents Learning From Kilburn as an alternative form of education, rooted in the belief that ‘there is a significant amount to be learnt right on your doorstep, both in the physical environment that surrounds you, and in the knowledge contained in the minds of people in the area’. The university is already open and will run until March, 2014.
