Good news! London’s best leftfield music festival, Field Day, is to return in Victoria Park for its eighth year – except now it’s Field Days, stretching across a whole weekend in June 2014. Saturday remains the same multi-stage bonanza of alternative music as ever, while Sunday focusses on one huge headliner, announced this morning as… Pixies.
Yep: the screaming surrealist giants of US alt rock will be closing the show. If you missed their bonkers, 30-song-long sets at the Hammersmith Apollo last week, here’s your chance to check out how new bassist Kim Shattuck is doing at the tough job of replacing Kim Deal, and hear some of the first new Pixies material since they reunited in 2004. They’re still pretty much the weirdest band in the world.
The rest of the line-up is pretty amazing, too – but you’ll have to take our word for it as we’re not allowed to tell you who’s headlining on Saturday until next week. Pick up a copy of Time Out on December 3 and all will be re-Field…
