Ted Covent Garden

Whether you’re a self-declared feminist or still getting to grips with the f-word, you’ll want to head down to the Grand Connaught Rooms in Covent Garden on December 7 for a series of women-centred TEDx talks. As part of the TEDWomen conference in San Francisco, the independently organised TED event aims to challenge the gendered labels placed on women (and men) in society and to try and find ways to combat these restrictive labels. Speakers include Laura Bates, the founder of the Everyday Sexism Project; Leyla Hussein, who works with women and girls at risk of female genital mutilation; founder of Womanity Foundation, Yann Borgstedt and author of ‘Living Dolls: the Return of Sexism and The New Feminism’ Natasha Walter.  Ally Swadling
