You can buy a lot of things at Deptford Market: fruit, veg, junk, stuff, tat, curios, antiques and oddities. But it’s never been your numero uno port of call to load up on theatre tickets. Well that’s all changed, thanks to a new scheme by the nearby Albany Theatre, which will be offering £1 tickets to every show in its spring season from a bright pink stall that’ll be doing business at the market this Friday from 9am.
You can see everything from new plays (the Penny Dreadfuls’ ‘How to be Immortal’) to folk musicians (Eliza Carthy plays in February) and even if you loathe all culture of any form, fans of a good bargain will surely want to get involved.
