Everyone needs a jeans line. Or, if you prefer big words, a ‘diffusion’ line. It allows the hoi polloi to have a little taste of what you offer, with reduced formality and a reduced price tag, whether it’s a dress or a restaurant. In the case of Angela Hartnett, it means creating Café Murano, a casual spin-off of her smart Italian eatery Murano. Not that this is any ordinary caff – oh no, this is where the original Pétrus once sat, where Gordon Ramsay trained disciples including Hartnett and Marcus Wareing, back when they were all still talking to each other.
