A dram good idea: London gets its first whisky distillery in over 100 years

Distil, my beating heart! London is to get its first whisky distillery in over a hundred years thanks to the London Distillery Company in Battersea, which has just been granted permission (by HMRC) to make the tipple (it already produces Dodd’s Gin). The city’s last whisky distillery, in Stratford, closed in 1910. Eager to get your hands on some of that delectable capital nectar? Well, you’ll have to wait. To be called whisky, the spirit has to age for a minimum of three years and one day. So here’s to drinking it in 2016! Eddy Frankel
