Bring it on Christmas! How to travel somewhere

Stay cool this Yule with these handy travel tips:

Christmas Eve

There’ll be a Saturday service on the tube and bus network (though festive revellers be warned: there’ll be no night or 24-hour bus services). Last tubes will run to a Sunday schedule (that’s around 11.45pm on the Victoria Line and 12.15am on the Jubilee), and the London Overground will only operate until around 9.30pm. It’s time to cough up for a cab! Or walk.

Boxing Day

All those requisite post- Christmas visits to out-of-town aunties/grannies/parents might have to be put on hold: there are no services on First Capital Connect, First Great Western, GNER, Great Anglia, Great Western, Southeastern, South West or Virgin Trains networks. Neither the Gatwick nor Heathrow Express will be running, but there will be a special service on the Stansted Express. Oh, and there might be a tube strike, meaning the Sunday service planned for Boxing Day may never appear. Better hope Santa brings you a pair of stout walking boots.
