If, like many thousands of others, you’re planning to ring in 2014 by watching London lit up by Bompas & Parr’s multi-sensory fireworks, then you’ll probably be thinking about the best places to head to get a good view (and sniff/taste). Well your luck’s in, because we’ve gone and rounded up a few of our favourite watching spots:
The best spot if you want to get reeeally high this New Year’s Eve. For the first time ever, you can see in the new year while enjoying 360 degree, panoramic views of London, one of the best (and definitely most exclusive) vantage points of the firework display, with food and drink thrown in. Let’s just hope it isn’t cloudy!
The Southbank Centre is throwing a party and this year it’s vintage themed. There’ll be dancing, dining and drinking, with a private terrace offering brilliant views of the fireworks over the river.
If you prefer instead to brave the cold and watch the fireworks from outside, why not head to:
At 256ft high, this north London hill will give you a great view of the city and the fireworks (probably with a bit more elbow room than on the banks of the river, too).
Or head even higher to Parliament Hill (322ft high) in Hampstead Heath for another good vantage point away from the packed banks of the Thames.
If you fancy getting a bit closer to the water, Victoria Embankment offers some pretty damn lovely views, and will get you nice and near the fireworks. That said, you’ll want to pitch up a good few hours before midnight to guarantee a good view.
Again a great riverside spot, minus the gigantic crowds of nearby Tower Bridge. Surrounded by St Paul’s Cathedral, Mansion House, and Bank, Cannon Street is still a popular spot so try to get there early.
