However historically inaccurate, this city is full of weird stories and urban myths. If you’re partial to ghost stories round the fire or pontificating down the pub, then you’ll appreciate the upgraded intellect of Scott Wood, co-founder of the speculative London Fortean Society and Transpontine and author of ‘London Urban Legends: The Corpse on the Tube’.
Hosted by South East London Folklore Society, Scott will be exploring some of our capital’s legends – from the walking statue of Brandy Nun to the office Hitler planned to use as his London HQ – in The Old King’s Head on January 9 from 8pm. No need to book, but if you want a seat then drop email@example.com a line. Ally Swadling
