Meet Jill, Finn and Bloom, the new residents of the Houses of Parliament. Unlike everyone’s favourite soon-to-open cat café, these felines aren’t hanging around playing on iPads. No, they have real jobs – they’ve been employed to scare away mice.

Of the 190 cats at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, these are the three chosen felines to help rid the Palace of Westminster of its vermin problems. MPs have said they see mice, droppings and nibbled documents, so we’re sure the new recruits received a warm welcome.
