Regent’s Canal and the River Lea may have a grand future as an outdoor museum. Plans to create an art-filled sculpture walk along the waterways between The O2 and Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been set in motion. Dubbed ‘The Line’, the project needs £146,379 to fill the towpaths with art and organisers gave themselves just 11 days to crowd-fund it. In the end, they raised £5,500 – juuuust a little bit short. Fortunately, they’ve realised the error of their ways and have now extended that deadline. They’ve got celebrity backers like Danny Boyle and Turner Prize-winner Mark Wallinger on-side, so hopefully your Sunday strolls along the canal could soon involve eye candy that goes beyond cyclists and aggressive joggers.
