After a successful inaugural outing last year, Craft Beer Rising returns to the Old Truman Brewery for a second round in 2014 from Fri 21 to Sun 23 Feb, when 50 breweries will present some 200 beers over three days.
There are now more than 30 independent breweries within the M25, and it seems almost every new pub that opens has its fridges and cellar stocked to overflowing with pale ales, porters, lagers and stouts made in London. Providing the soundtrack to the drinking will be an impressive line-up of DJs including Mr Scruff on Sunday afternoon. The food will be much more than something to soak up the beer, too. Expect well regarded street vendors along with talks, tasting sessions and panel discussions.
Despite the cool add-ons, the festival is still firmly about forward-thinking ‘craft’ beers – that’s brews which take their cues from the US and New World rather than traditional English ales and bitters.
