Tonight: attend a meeting to help protect Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

Dalston Eastern Curve Garden

There’s not much green space, fresh air or peace and quiet in Dalston these days. Which is why the Eastern Curve Garden tucked away behind Dalston Junction is such a treasured oasis for residents and visitors alike. But sadly, as with so many pockets of nature in London, the Garden is under threat from plans for a redevelopment of the Kingsland Shopping Centre (see below). The Garden isn’t protected in the proposed plans and the space is to become a ‘shopping circuit’ with some planting – a far cry from the place it is today.

If you feel strongly about protecting the Eastern Curve Garden (or are just interested in the development) head down to Stoke Newington Town Hall tonight (Feb 25) at 6.30pm to attend a meeting with Hackney Council, the developers and other concerned parties. Sadly you won’t be able to talk at the meeting, but residents are encouraging people to come down to listen and present a strong front against the plans.
