Make like an Olympian and swim at the London Aquatics Centre for £3.50

East End exercise just got a massive upgrade! Forget drizzly runs along an overflowing canal and dodging buses on your bike as this Saturday March 1 the London Aquatics Centre is opening its pools and diving platforms to the whole of London for a mere £3.50 a splash. Bargain! Especially considering you might bump into Olympians like Tom Daley.

To get your lengths done without kids jumping in front of your face, there’s the competition pool for experienced swimmers. For those who prefer a quick three-length doggy paddle, there’s the training pool, which welcomes swimmers of all levels.

If you’re planning on giving Daley a run for his money, the centre has a 25-metre diving pool with platforms of up to 10 metres. There is also a ‘dry’ diving zone which thankfully isn’t as painful as you may imagine; it consists of a trampoline, harness, foam pit and stretch area to help you work on your technique without getting wet.

It looks pretty damn great too. The seating that held 17,500 people during the Games has been removed and replaced with lots of glass, which floods the wave-like building with natural light. Later on in March it will hold a swimathon for Sport Relief, so get down there soon and start practicing.
