Last year I experienced my very first Holi and let me tell you, it was glorious (see photo above for paint-splattered proof). The annual spring Festival of Colour is almost upon us once again and Bombay Café Dishoom is throwing another technicolor party to celebrate. Last March we covered Village Underground in powder paint and this year Dishoom will be taking over Hawker House near Broadway Market for an afternoon of colourful family fun on Sunday March 23 (2pm-4.30pm).

After casting your sins into the fire, you can sip chai, chow down on snacks, learn about the story of Holi, have a dance and, of course, take part in the spectacular paint throwing bonanza. Wear old clothes and prepare to get messy – it took me four washes to get the paint out of my hair! Totally worth it though. I can’t think of a better way to say goodbye to winter and welcome in Spring. Sonya Barber
