No one captures Englishness quite like photographer Martin Parr. And now you can go one step further than just looking at his brilliant photos of British life – you can eat them, too. From March March 19-22 and 26-29 foodie collective the Art of Dining will be bringing his work to life with a full-on edible experience.
‘Say Cheese’ will be taking over a former Hoxton library that will be split into a pop-up dining room, where guests will be served a five-course menu modelled on Parr’s pics, and ‘The Lipman Members Bar’, where you’ll be able to quaff retro classic cocktails alongside a suitable kitsch chintzy carpet, retro telly and tombola.
But how authentic will it be? We reckon it’ll be pretty bang-on considering the chef is none other than Martin’s daughter, Ellen Parr, who’s previously worked at the Rochelle Canteen and Moro before starting the Art of Dining. You can book in to just have a drink at the bar for £10 (which includes a cocktail and limited-edition beermat) or go for the full £65 dining experience, which includes a welcome drink and limited-edition signed postcard.
